Seder 2025

Good evening, everyone, and welcome to our Passover Seder. I am Debe Bloom

the President of JCO (and I’m tickled to be welcoming you to our JCO Seder for my 3d time)

I’d like to thank Sheila Cohn for orchestrating this event. There’s so many tiny details to make JCO’s seder memorable & meaningful —and Sheila pulls it altogether. And she would be the first to say; with the help of many: Wendy Wilson, Aryna Swope. Laurel Felice,Sylvia Raz, Debe Bloom, Joyce Steingold, Debbie Rubinstein, Louise Winheld, Dave Wertlieb, Phil Moncharsh, Larry Steingold, Bob Weiss, Stephanie Goldie Brassachio, Helen Salmon, Valerie Greenberg, Julie Moore, Mark Rubinstein, Elijah Weinstein, Joshua Weinstein, Rick Bloom, Jeff Weinstein, Maxwell Lommel, Kelson Lommel, Jade & JR Tippo

I apologize if I’ve missed anyone but ….

Thank you all.

Tonight, we come together to celebrate one of the most important and meaningful traditions in the Jewish faith – the story of our ancestors’ liberation from slavery in Egypt. We are so fortunate to have both our wonderful & warm spiritual leaders with us to lead us through our Passover Seder. Rabbi Lisa Bock and Cantor Mitzi Schwarz.

Passover is a time to reflect on our shared history, our strength, and the ongoing journey toward freedom, justice, and peace. Tonight is a night of renewal and remembrance, where we connect with those who came before us and reaffirm our commitment to the values they held dear.

As we gather around these tables, we also remember those who cannot be with us, both near and far. This is a time to cherish our loved ones, our community, and the traditions that bind us together. Tonight, as we read from the Haggadah, we will not only recount the story of our ancestors but also make that story our own. We are all part of this ongoing narrative – a narrative of overcoming oppression and embracing hope.

Let us open our hearts and minds to the lessons of the night and the spirit of gratitude, compassion, and unity. May this Seder be a reminder that we are all capable of creating a world of justice, equality, and freedom for all.

Thank you all for being here, and may this Seder bring you warmth, peace, and blessings.

Chag Sumach
