About the event
Elderly and disabled residents in long-term care facilities are among the most frail and vulnerable. Many cannot represent themselves to improve their quality of life and care. Sarah will talk about the services provided to help those in Ventura County nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Ombudsmen make unannounced, unscheduled visits to facilities as well as investigate and help resolve residents’ complaints. The program also offers a checklist to consider in choosing a long-term care facility. Ventura County has approximately 25 licensed skilled nursing/nursing home facilities and 50 assisted living and residential care sites. In February 2026, Abrams became Executive Director of Long-Term Care Services, leading a team of State-Certified Ombudsmen. She brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in both the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. Implement your rights in a long term care facility?’ Sarah Abrams is an advocate that will tell us the inside track…
