About the event

We are fortunate to live in a community of talented artists, including Logan Maxwell Hagege (pronounced Ah-jejj) who works out of his 20-foot-high studio in Meiners Oaks. His work embodies the West from a modernist perspective through his signature bold colors and powerful imagery in figure and landscape paintings. His mastery of light is faithful to colors and shapes that exist in nature, but their forms and hues are stripped to their essence, revealing and celebrating their complexity.

Hagege’s illustrated talk at JCO will take us from his early stint in animation, then art academy training to the struggles of making a living as a young artist. Now in his 40s, he has enjoyed mounting critical and commercial success, with his paintings in the collections of esteemed museums throughout the U.S., including the Autry Museum of the American West in L.A.

Hagege draws inspiration from trips to the American Southwest that he uses to later create landscapes in his studio. Come hear this local treasure and see what he has created.
